As we begin our second semester of this incarnation of the SCCougar, we are looking for new staff members. Turnover is an inevitable part of a college newspaper. We are looking for students interested in seeing their work published in both the print and online editions. To join, contact Faculty Adviser Lee Ann Nelson (lnelson@stchas.edu) or stop by LRC 221 between 1:00-2:00 PM Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.
Along with writers, anyone interested in photography, videography, editing, or graphic design may join. Because this is on a voluntary basis, you can do as much, or as little work, as you want.
No previous experience or prerequisite class is necessary to join. However, COM 102-Mass Communications, Journalism 120, and Video Production 260/290 are all strongly encouraged if you are interested in pursuing Mass Communications further.
Benefits of joining a college newspaper staff :
- Receive College Credit
- Learn to work on deadline
- Get hands-on experience with both online and print newspapers
- Hone your writing skills
- Build a portfolio of your work for future employers
- Try out a career in journalism
- Outlet to publish your work for an established audience
- Pad your resume
